Nokia Lumia 800 : Review

Nokia Lumia 800
Nokia Lumia 800

We’ve heard enough rumors, seen enough leaks, and now it’s official – Nokia’s ‘Sea Ray’ handset is finally a reality. Officially called the Nokia Lumia 800, the handset shares the same form-factor as the Nokia N9, while adding Windows Phone under the hood.

Design:
The Lumia 800 will be very familiar to those of you who saw the Nokia N9. The body curves round at the sides to give it a squashed oblong shape, when viewed from the top. The screen is curved too, taking up the whole of the device. The shape is very similar to the shape of Apple's fifth-generation iPod nano, so if you like the look of that little chap you'll probably have a soft spot for the 800.

It's machined from a single piece of polycarbonate which makes it feel particularly sturdy and will hopefully put up with a rough life much better than cheaper phones bolted together from numerous bits of plastic.

Performance:
Under the hood of the Lumia 800 you'll find a single-core 1.4GHz processor backed up with 512MB of RAM, which is a pretty decent set of specs. It's not packing a dual-core chip like the big boys of the smart phone world, the Samsung Galaxy S2 or the new Apple iPhone 4S, but the single-core chip is a fast one, so you can expect good performance nevertheless.

Music:
Nokia Music offers Nokia customers something like a Pandora experience, with special “mixes” of tunes you can listen to based around a certain genre of music. There’s no login or subscription to listen to jams while you’re out and about, and music can be made available offline, for listening to places where you might not get a cell or Wi-Fi signal like planes. Your favorite mixes can be pinned to the home screen on the handset for easy access.

Sports:
Nokia has partnered with ESPN for Nokia Sports Hub. The Hub can give you quick up-to-date information on your favorite teams or favorite players.

Navigation:   The Nokia 800 includes Nokia Drive for free, making it the only Windows Phone with free turn-by-turn directions. You can download maps at home, but the maps will connect and download additional map information if you drive out of your planned route.

Nokia kinetic : Review

Nokia kinetic
Nokia kinetic

Multitouch revolutionized user interfaces, and if Nokia researchers get their way, a mobile device that's sensitive to how it's being flexed could be the next revolution.

At the Nokia World show here, the Finnish mobile phone maker showed off its "Nokia kinetic device" with a flexible display. Gripped with two hands, it would scroll through music collections or photo albums when twisted. Bowing it inward or outward zoomed photos in and out or paused and played music, while tapping the corners panned through photos.
While it was a real computing device with a real OLED display, it's most definitely not a real product anyone could buy today. More firmly in the prototype category was a related flexible device that looked like a slim remote control; it could be controlled with a single hand

As you can see in the video below, you can use this flexible interface to do anything with your mobile phone. By just twisting the mobile phone, you can make your way through your music playlist or navigate your photo albums. Here in this video, this video demonstrates it's new flexible interface by bowing in or out. Bowing in will zoom the photo and it’s the round way round for bowing out
